Members of JSC Tour Appellate Court Premises
Shortly after the swearing-in ceremony of Hon. Lady Justice Elizabeth Musoke as a member of the Judicial Service Commission, the Commissioners led by the Chairperson, Hon. Justice Benjamin Kabiito, requested for a tour of the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal buildings.
The request was honored by the Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary, Dr Pius Bigirimana, who led them on a guided tour of the premises.
The members of the JSC expressed appreciation for the work done and were optimistic that the premises would effectively contribute to reducing case backlog.
They noted that the new courts are crucial for the Judiciary's goals. The JSC members proposed mounting television screens outside the courtrooms for the public to follow proceedings, an idea that was welcomed by the PS/SJ.
They highlighted the potential cost-saving benefits the new courthouses will have for the Judiciary in terms of rent and conference facilities.
